Some of the people have claimed that the cause can be anything from dust to a faulty motherboard to the mirrors locking up. Apparently Samsung is aware of this problem, but has yet to issue a recall or offer to fix any of the TVs that are "infected." I found numerous people who have the same issue with their Samsung. I did a little looking around on the internet to see if anyone else had this problem. It had a great picture - especially with HD channels. I purchased this particular TV in March of 2007. I have noticed a small white spot on the display. Several people have posted videos of their TVs - with hundreds of white spots.
If this repair doesn't take hold, I will be looking for restitution. It is really evident in faces and sky pictures. I SURE AM GRATEFUL I PURCHASED THE 3 YEAR SERVICE CONTRACT.I have had this TV since December of 2006 and now have a second service call scheduled. The screen has developed black lines horizontally across the screen and has a watery quality to it. It is not displaying in HD.This is the same problem I had in November of 2006.There is no reason for something so expensive to be of such poor quality.
This will be the last Samsung product I or anyone I know will buy as they do NOT stand behind their product. I can sleep better now. The rep. I bought the 42 inch DLP model HL_R4266W and about 6 months after the 1 yr warranty expired, my TV started displaying a left shadow on the screen. What a joke. She did "help" me by putting my complaint on a level 2 status.
Wow. What started as a one inch shadow has become 4 inches in 3 months. I finally was able to get someone on the phone who referred me to their exceptional customer relations departments. "assisted" me by telling me I should have purchased an extended warranty and that if the TV was defective it would have been recalled by Samsung. A cursory google seach shows other customers with same exact problem. Do NOT buy a Samsung product especially their DLP TV's.
I wrote 3 letters to Samsung's "customer service dept" and received zero replys. When I asked how many defective TV's were required to demand a recall, she did not know the answer.
This tv is unbelieveable, The picture is great, the hd- dlp make the picture so real. You wont go wrong buying this tv.
Better picture and the cost is less. Watch the LCD DLP because they can't touch the motion smoothness of a true DLP. I believe this was the buy of the decade for me. Picture quality is great. If you don't need to hang your TV on a wall get a DLP.
